Comedogencity Study Carrollton Texas $120

This study is conducted in Carrollton, TX

Visit 1 - Prospective subjects will complete normal paperwork. Qualified subjects will receive patches on their upper backs.
Visit 2 - 12 - Subjects will return to the clinic every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for patch removal, site grading and patches applied. (Patches will always be removed by the clinical staff.)
Visit 13 - Subjects will return to the clinic to have the patches removed. Follicular biopsies will be taken at all test sites. (Subjects CAN NOT miss this visit, on Mon. 10/19/05.)(One miss will be allowed on visits 2 - 12 only, and then subjects will be required to come to an additional visit on Make-up day 10/21/05.)

(There will not be any swimming or suntanning allowed for the duration of the study.)

QUALIFICATIONS:Male or Female ages 18 to 45Good General HealthAcne prone on face and back - you DO NOT have to have acne on your back at the visit. Acne prone means you may or may not get acneVisible pores on back - if you ever had acne on your back you would qualifyHistory of acne on back if you ever had acne on your back you would qualifyAt least a two week rest period since completion of any previous patch testing on the back

DISQUALIFICATIONS:Uncontrolled metabolic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidismDisease or condition of the skin that would make it inappropriate for participationAtopic skin, active psoriasis, active eczema. scaly inflammatory disease, etcSunburn, abrasions, scar tissue, birthmarks, moles, vitiligo, keloids, severe acne or tattoos on the backReceiving any anticancer, immunosuppressive treatments/medications or radiationSensitivities to cyanacrylae glue (super glue) or adhesive tape/bandagesKnown allergy to any personal care productsUse of topical steroids and/or drugs on the backPregnant, nursing or planning to become pregnant in within the next 6 monthsCurrently taking or using any of the following medication or any other medication that the investigator may feel interferes with the study (none of these medications can be taken during the study): Oral or topical anti-biotics or Acne medication (i.e. Clindamycin, Erythromycin, Tetracycline, Retin-A, Accutane, Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicyclic Acid products). Topical meds can not be applied to the back. Topical meds being applied to the face only are acceptable.; Any OTC acne treatments or medications - being applied to the back. Prescription anti-inflammatory drugs taken in large, frequent doses (aspirin use should not exceed two tables (650 mg) per day). Topical steroids and/or drugs on the back.Participants placed on the study must not use topical products on the back for the study duration. Willing to avoid sun exposure to the back and not use a tanning bed for the study duration.

Subjects will not be allowed to swim during the course of the study.Dates of Study: Visit 1 - 13 Mon. -Wed. - Fri. - (9/21/05 Thru 10/19/05) Make-up Visit: 10/21/05Subjects may miss one of the visits 2 - 12 - and then come to an additional visit on 10/21/05However, subjects can not miss visit 13 (Mon. 10/19/05)Length of Visits: Visit 1 & 13 - 45 minutesVisit 2 - 12 - 15 minutesTimes of Visits (visits must be scheduled between the below hours):Visits 1 - 12: 12:00 to 12:30Visit 13 & Make Up: 12:00 to 1:00Times available for Visit 1: 12:05, 12:20, 12:25

Compensation: $120 total
